Soso Bobmanuel Foundation (SBM Foundation) was founded in 2015 by Soalatom Bobmanuel, fondly called Soso; one of the very few upright and well-meaning Nigerians of our time, who fervently believes in the Nigerian youth About founder.
The foundation was created to positively impact disadvantaged youths through group activities, mentorship, sports, education, and skills development programs with the aim of ushering in new leaders who possess the ability and credibility to influence development in their communities.
Our mission is to create the framework for the human talent to flourish with the vision of building a haven for youths of all ages, guiding them in making the best of their lives through various mediums of positive influence and to foster social change in the long run.
Sports is the first step towards this goal and the foundation has been at it since inception with a major focus on basketball, a sport our founder thrived in as a former Nigerian professional basketball player.
In this regard, we have successfully hosted 5 basketball camps and 3 competitions in our resident city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. This has given several talented youths the opportunity they need to gain access to their next level of studies and playing basketball in schools, and academies abroad.
After the first camp in 2015, we kicked off our weekly mentorship and sports development program on the 26th of June 2016.
We’ve achieved a great deal of success in this area with kids from the foundation competing in major national and international tournaments as well as winning several individual and team competition awards. See Testimonies
These wouldn’t have been accomplished without the help of some sponsors, partners, and supporters over the years. How to become a sponsor or partner
We remain committed to the well-being of the youths in this part of the world and have our sights set for promoting the identified pool of untapped talents, not just in Port Harcourt, but across Nigeria and in due time, Africa.
