Walk for peace 2019.
In 2019, the SBM Foundation in partnership with the NGO “Women in Port Harcourt”, took a walk for peace around the city of Port Harcourt to mark a shun against violence ahead of the general elections of that year.
The safety of the lives and properties of innocent Nigerians are not always guaranteed during election periods; It inspires fear for well-meaning Nigerians who want to exercise their voting rights as citizens. This and many more concerns promoted us to raise our voices and launch a campaign against election violence. We called for peace amongst those who instigate clashes and vandalism and did our best to enlighten and encourage people to vote.
It was a successful walk from the Basketball court at Old GRA to several locations in the city of Port Harcourt and back.
